Ambassador Prescott

“Paging Ambassador Prescott!”

Yes, here I am! Ambassador Prescott at your service. As we elite movers and shakers know, ambassadors should represent their constituents honestly, in a positive manner. I responded to the call to become a “virtual ambassador” for Furry Friends Humane Shelter.

You might ask: What does a virtual ambassador do?

I represent dogs and cats who are looking for their forever families. Furry Friends sends me a bio and photos of a shelter dog or cat. As I read the bio and consider the photos, I think of something that the pet might say or would want people to know. After writing a short story about the pet (thus far in the first person), I upload that, and a few photos, to my social media accounts.

The funny side of this (funny to me, anyway) is that I have been reluctant to engage with social media. A few years ago, I had an Instagram account for Mitzvah the Blind Dog. We never went viral but we had followers, including a fan club in Norway! But after Mitzvah went to puppy heaven, I saw no reason to continue my social media.

Now I have joined the 21 st century. I am happy to begin interacting with social media, even though there's a learning curve for me. I post the pet's story and photos to my Facebook page Deborah Lee Prescott and Instagram dlp.writinglife. My hope is that someone reading my posts will go to Furry Friends to meet their new best friend.

To illustrate my commitment to rescuing shelter pets, here are some photos from the original stage production of A MITZVAH FOR DAISY .
