Mitzvah, Star of Print and Stage

Perhaps T.S. Eliot was correct when he wrote, “April is the cruelest month”: the month of April arrives accompanied by a pandemic and global worry. Illness and stress has engulfed the globe, and most of us now live in a “new normal.” Acknowledging the staggering difficulties the entire world faces, I nevertheless want to share some personal good news. As some of you already know, last month the long-awaited third book in the Mitzvah series was published: Mazel Tov, Mitzvah! Hurrah! I hope that those of you who love Mitzvah—whether you knew her in real life or only through the books in which she stars—will enjoy reading her story about adoption. My inspiring dog lives on in her books.

Moreover, she and her rascally feline sister Daisy will live on in a stage production! Don Butler and I are co-creating a play for students, kindergarten through second grade, called “A Mitzvah for Daisy.” The play will be sweet and funny; through dialogue and musical numbers, Mitzvah and Daisy will teach that compassion changes lives and that love is an action word. At this time, I don’t want to say anything more about the play; however, closer to the time of its staging, currently (and hopefully) scheduled for autumn 2020, I will have more to tell. Imagine: Mitzvah and Daisy, stars of the stage!

In the meantime, Mitzvah’s third book, Mazel Tov, Mitzvah!, is available on Amazon.com, some Barnes and Noble stores, and at TaylorandSealePublishing.com. A quick head’s up: I am in the process of trying to correct Amazon’s presentation, but, to find the book, you need to know that Amazon squashed together the first two words: “mazeltov.” I am listed as Dr. Deborah Lee Prescott, although all my other publications are without the “Dr.” Nonetheless, Mitzvah would love for you to see her book!
